INSS Press

International Natural and Social Science (INSS) Press is a Toronto-based academic publisher dedicated to high-quality journals and books across the natural and social sciences. INSS Press provides an international, open-access platform for researchers to disseminate rigorous, innovative, and peer-reviewed scholarship.

INSS Press is governed by an Academic Council, composed of scholars from multiple disciplines and countries, which provides academic oversight, safeguards editorial independence, and advises on scholarly standards, scope, and long-term development. An Executive Team, based in Toronto, is responsible for strategic planning, legal and financial operations, publishing infrastructure, and global partnerships.

Editorial work is carried out by distributed journal-level editorial teams, who manage peer review, production, and dissemination in accordance with established publishing ethics and best practices. INSS Press is committed to rigorous peer review, transparency, inclusivity, and accessibility. Professor Anitha CHINNASWAMY, Ph.D. (UK)

Dr. Anitha Chinnaswamy is a Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security Management at Aston Business School and Deputy Director of the Cyber Security Innovation Centre, where she leads major research and consultancy initiatives across cybersecurity risk management, cybercrime, digital inclusion, and emerging technologies. She has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on multiple high-profile projects funded by Horizon Europe, Innovate UK, DSIT, WMCA, NCSC, and DCMS, contributing to national and regional strategies on cyber threat intelligence, skills development, cyber ecosystem mapping, and digital safety. Her expertise spans cyber risk, organisational behaviour, security awareness, cloud-based AI, fintech security, and the societal impacts of cyber threats. As Programme Director for the MSc Cyber Security Management, she has developed award-winning curricula and is widely recognized for advancing diversity and inclusion in cybersecurity through her work as a STEM Ambassador, founding member of the Ethnic Minorities in Cyber (EMiC) Network, and Chapter Leader for ISACA Central UK. Her contributions have been acknowledged through multiple awards, including the Midlands Women in Tech Awards and recognition in the National Cyber Awards. Dr. Chinnaswamy is committed to the mission of INSS Press by supporting scholar-driven research dissemination, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue, and advancing high-quality, impactful work in cyber security and digital transformation.

Professor Shervin ESPAHBOD, Ph.D. (Canada)

Dr. Espahbod is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Decision Sciences at MacEwan University, Canada, specializing in supply chain, operations, and technology management. He holds a Ph.D. from Wilfrid Laurier University and previously served at Cape Breton University. His research focuses on sustainable and innovation-oriented practices in supply chains and operations, integrating analytical methods with real-world applications. He supports the mission of INSS Press to build a scholar-led publishing platform that empowers academics to produce, review, and share research with integrity and collective ownership.

Professor Samuel FOSSO-WAMBA, Ph.D. (France)

Dr. Fosso Wamba is a Professor of Information Management and Data Science at Toulouse Business School, France, with extensive expertise spanning artificial intelligence, business analytics, information systems, IT-enabled supply chain management, and digital transformation. He holds an HDR from Telecom École de Management, a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal, and master’s degrees in electronic commerce and mathematics. His academic career includes professorial roles at NEOMA Business School and the University of Wollongong, along with numerous visiting and adjunct appointments in Europe, Africa, and North America. His research integrates analytics, emerging technologies, and data-driven methods to advance innovation in operations, information systems, and digital strategy. He supports the mission of INSS Press to strengthen scholar-driven publishing by empowering academics to create, evaluate, and disseminate knowledge with transparency, integrity, and collective ownership.

Professor Chulung LEE, Ph.D. (South Korea)

Dr. Lee is a Professor in the School of Industrial and Management Engineering at Korea University, specializing in supply chain management, transportation planning, manufacturing logistics, and revenue management. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and B.S./M.S. degrees in Industrial Engineering from Seoul National University. His academic career includes faculty appointments at the National University of Singapore, research leadership at the Logistics Institute of Asia Pacific, and visiting professorship at the University of British Columbia, along with earlier research roles at the University of Waterloo and Penn State. He has also served in multiple senior administrative roles at Korea University, including department chair and associate dean. Dr. Lee’s research integrates analytical modelling, logistics systems, and operational strategy, contributing to both theoretical and applied advances in industrial engineering. He supports the mission of INSS Press to promote a scholar-led publishing ecosystem that empowers academics to create, review, and disseminate research with independence, fairness, and collective stewardship.

Professor Freeman LIU, Ph.D. (Canada)

Professor Freeman Liu is a distinguished materials scientist with more than three decades of academic experience at leading institutions including the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo. After earning his Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield, he established an international reputation in the design and structural characterization of advanced materials. His pioneering research has produced major breakthroughs in supramolecular self-assembly, liquid crystal structures, and functional materials, with landmark publications in journals such as Science and Nature. Among his most influential contributions are the discovery of giant supramolecular liquid crystal lattices and supramolecular dendritic liquid quasi-crystals, which have significantly shaped contemporary understanding of soft matter and molecular organization. He is committed to supporting the mission of INSS Press by fostering a scholarly publishing environment that highlights cutting-edge scientific advances and strengthens interdisciplinary dialogue, ensuring that rigorous research is broadly accessible to the global academic community.

Professor Wensheng QIN, Ph.D. (Canada)

Dr. Qin is a Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor in Biological Engineering at Lakehead University, Canada. He earned his Ph.D. from Queen’s University, and completed postdoctoral training at Stanford University. He previously held the Ontario Research Chair in Biorefining at Lakehead University and has undertaken academic exchanges at leading institutions, including MIT. Dr. Qin has an extensive international academic profile, having served as visiting or adjunct professor and conducted research collaborations with major universities and research institutes in North America, Europe, and Asia. He has held editorial and senior editorial roles on 28 international journals and currently advises international research foundations and academic institutions. He has co-organized numerous international conferences, reviewed research grants for multiple countries, and examined doctoral dissertations worldwide.

Dr. Qin has supervised more than 48 Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows and published over 240 peer-reviewed articles and 12 books or book chapters. His research focuses on industrial biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, and environmental sustainability, including biomass conversion, engineered microorganisms, wastewater treatment, and bio-based products. He supports the mission of INSS Press to advance a scholar-led publishing platform grounded in academic integrity, global collaboration, and collective stewardship.

Professor Tao WANG, Ph.D. (France)

Dr. Tao Wang is a Professor and PhD supervisor in Industrial Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Saint Etienne and a researcher at the Decision & Information Sciences for Production Systems (DISP) laboratory, France. His work lies at the intersection of Operations Research and Artificial Intelligence, with particular expertise in mathematical modeling, machine learning, and data-driven decision support. He has contributed to numerous international and regional research initiatives in healthcare system management and reform, covering topics such as etiological diagnosis, personalized medicine, surgical scheduling, emergency network design, cancer treatment planning, drug delivery, home care service optimization, and medical data mining. His recent projects span AI-based prognostic prediction, NLP-enhanced opinion analysis for sustainable development, industrial decarbonization, explainable AI for digital health, and predictive analytics for infection prevention. Dr. Wang’s research advances intelligent and resilient decision-making in complex socio-technical systems, and he supports the mission of INSS Press to strengthen scholar-led publication by promoting rigorous, innovative, and openly accessible scientific communication.

Professor Yu Amy XIA, Ph.D. (USA)

Dr. Yu Amy Xia is the Floyd Dewey Gottwald Professor of Business Analytics at the Mason School of Business, College of William and Mary, and a Dean’s Research Fellow for 2023–2025. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and an M.S. in Statistics from Washington State University, an M.Eng. in Management Science–Finance from Antai College of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and a B.Eng. in Electronic Engineering–Automatic Control from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Before joining William and Mary, she served on the faculty of Northeastern University and worked in the Off-shore Banking Department at China Merchants Bank. Her research spans supply chain management, emerging technologies in supply chains, business analytics, machine learning, sustainability, sourcing, and risk management, with publications in leading journals such as Management Science, Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, Omega, and IIE Transactions. She has also secured multiple external research grants supporting projects in logistics management and blockchain applications in supply chains. Dr. Xia supports the mission of INSS Press to advance a scholar-led publishing ecosystem that promotes rigorous research, interdisciplinary innovation, and equitable dissemination of knowledge.

Professor Yimin WU, DPhil (Canada)

Dr. Yimin Wu is the inaugural Tang Family Chair in New Energy Materials and Sustainability and an Associate Professor with tenure at the University of Waterloo, where he holds appointments in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering and the Department of Chemistry and is affiliated with the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology; he is also the Director of the Materials Interfaces Foundry (MIF) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology. Dr. Wu’s research centers on the design of advanced energy and functional materials for solar fuels, batteries, flexible electronics, soft robotics, and energy-efficient neuromorphic computing, grounded in a fundamental understanding of energy transduction processes at material interfaces. He received his DPhil in Materials from the University of Oxford in 2013 and subsequently held postdoctoral and research appointments at the University of California, Berkeley and Argonne National Laboratory, focusing on batteries, catalysis, and in situ multimodal characterization using advanced electron and X-ray techniques, before joining the University of Waterloo in 2019. He has authored or co-authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including Nature, Nature Energy, Nature Communications, Science Advances, and Advanced Materials, is an inventor on eight U.S. and international patents, and has delivered more than 45 invited lectures worldwide in the past five years. Dr. Wu serves on the editorial board of Energy and Environmental Materials and has received numerous honors, including being named among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University, the Ontario Early Researcher Award, the Nanoscale Emerging Investigator Award, the WIN Research Leaders Award, finalist recognition for the MIT Technology Review “35 Innovators Under 35,” the UK EPSRC Doctoral Prize, the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad, and the SinBeRise Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Professor Wenbin ZHANG, Ph.D (USA)

Dr. Wenbin Zhang is an Assistant Professor at Florida International University and an Associate Member of the Artificial Intelligence Institute, New Zealand. His research focuses on the design of machine learning algorithms that offer rigorous theoretical guarantees while aligning with human values and societal objectives, with particular emphasis on making machine learning reliable and actionable for high-stakes decision-making in domains such as healthcare, digital forensics, finance, climate science, public policy, and law. His work integrates methodological advances with real-world impact by studying complex data sources—including electronic health records, remote sensing (MODIS), and supply chain data—under challenging conditions such as data imbalance, censorship, and distribution shift, and by evaluating models using metrics related to fairness, robustness, and decision quality. Dr. Zhang has received significant recognition for his research, including an invitation to deliver a New Faculty Highlights talk at AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI’24), the National Science Foundation CRII Award, and inclusion in the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List, as well as honors such as the Leibniz Fellowship and multiple distinguished service and best-paper awards at leading venues including ECML PKDD, FAccT, ICDM, DAMI, ECAI, and IJCAI. He actively contributes to the research community through editorial and organizational service, including roles as Sponsorship Chair for AAAI’26, Travel Award Chair for AIES’25, Associate Editor for ACM Computing Surveys, and Action Editor for Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery. Prior to joining Florida International University, Dr. Zhang served as an Assistant Professor at Michigan Technological University, was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; he has also held visiting or research appointments at several international institutions, reflecting his strong commitment to interdisciplinary and collaborative research.

CEO, Marta KELEMEN (Canada)

Marta Kelemen leads the strategic development, operational execution, and long-term growth of the organization. She is dedicated to building a publishing environment that empowers professors and supports the Press’s mission of creating a scholar-led platform defined by academic rigor, integrity, and global collaboration. Ms. Kelemen works closely with faculty founders, editorial teams, and partnering institutions to ensure that each journal under INSS Press reflects the highest professional and scholarly standards. Her editorial background is complemented by substantial practical experience gained through her involvement in her family’s business in Ontario, which strengthened her capabilities in management, operations, and strategic decision-making. By integrating industry insight with a deep commitment to academic partnerships, she provides the leadership necessary to guide INSS Press as a dynamic, innovative, and professor-centered publishing organization.

General Manager, Kate SHILOH (Canada)

Kate Shiloh is a Co-Founder and the General Manager of INSS Press, where she oversees operational strategy, business development, and the coordination of journal production across the organization. She brings more than a decade of professional experience in sales, client relations, and organizational growth from her work with global companies such as Lindt & Sprüngli, GlaxoSmithKline, and Lactalis Groupe. Prior to co-founding INSS Press, she served at Tengfay Education and Publishing Consulting in Canada, where she strengthened her expertise in publishing operations and academic services. Mrs. Shiloh holds a Master’s degree in Food Science and Engineering, and her own research has been published in SCI/SSCI-indexed journals. Combining industry insight with academic understanding, she is dedicated to supporting professors, enhancing author experience, and advancing the mission of INSS Press as a professional, scholar-centered publishing platform.
