Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines
The Journal of Health Geography and Public Health (JHGPH) welcomes scholarly contributions including original articles, research notes, reviews, commentaries, case reports, and short communications. Manuscripts must be written in English and prepared according to the instructions below.
1. Manuscript Types
- Research Articles: Abstract, keywords, introduction, materials & methods, results and/or discussion, conclusion.
- Review Articles: Abstract, keywords, main text (conclusion optional).
- Case Reports: Abstract (optional), keywords (optional), case description, discussion, conclusion (optional).
- Short Communications / Research Notes / Commentaries: Abstract (optional), concise text, references; conclusion optional.
2. General Structure
- Cover Letter (separate file): State article type; confirm the work is not published or under consideration elsewhere; provide the main point/novelty; include names, affiliations, and emails of up to five potential referees.
- Title Page: Title related to the content; all author names, affiliations, and email addresses; mark the corresponding author and provide a telephone number for urgent correspondence.
- Abstract (≤ 250 words): Summarize the problem, methods, primary results, and key conclusions.
- Keywords (4–10): Representative terms for indexing and search.
- Abbreviations: Define at first mention; optionally list common abbreviations here.
- Introduction: Concise review of the subject area and study rationale.
- Materials & Methods: Sufficient detail for reproducibility. Reference established methods; briefly describe modifications. Identify all materials. For human research, clearly describe populations and enrollment dates.
- Results: Present findings in logical sequence with references to tables, figures, and any supplemental material.
- Discussion: Explain new and important findings, compare with prior literature, note limitations, implications, and future work; include clinical/public health recommendations if appropriate.
- Conclusion: Brief statement of the main takeaways (required for research articles; optional for other types as noted).
- Figures, Tables & Captions: Cite in text; supply high-quality files. Provide comprehensive legends. Submit tables and figures as separate files when possible.
- Acknowledgements & Funding: Credit contributors and list funding sources (grant numbers if applicable).
- Conflicts of Interest: Clearly state any potential conflicts for all authors.
- References: Provide complete citations for all in-text references (see format below).

JHGPH publishes research and perspectives in:
- Health risk assessment and management; environmental health; emerging issues in environmental health and diseases
- Environmental policy and management; environmental pollution and control
- Environmental epidemiology and toxicology
- Disease ecology and spatial epidemiology; disease mapping; migration and disease diffusion
- Climate change and health; nutrition and health; mental health
- Maternal, child, adolescent, and adult health; women’s health; sexual and reproductive health and rights; gender-based violence
- Governance and healthcare systems in rural and urban areas
- Behavioral sciences and behavior change; health education; health services research
- Individual and population disease risk factor screening; nutrition and physical activity
- Prevention of infectious and non-infectious disease; injury and violence prevention
- Primary & secondary prevention of chronic and acute disease; promotion of individual and community health; public health planning; substance use (smoking, alcohol, other)
5. Submission
Submit manuscripts via the journal’s online system. The entire peer-review process is managed by the Journal Editors and Reviewers through the site.
6. Ethical Considerations
Authors must disclose all conflicts, affiliations, and financial relationships. Where applicable, include ethics approval statements and informed consent for human subjects research.
